Italian Fashion and Style Icon Lapo Elkann Meets with Sheba’s CEO, Zeev Rotstein
at the Edmund & Lily Safra Children’s Hospital
Lapo Elkann, Italy’s “leading man,” dubbed by the International Herald Tribune as "an icon of style for a new generation" once again came to Israel to visit Sheba. Lapo is already recognized around the world as one of Italy’s leading young entrepreneurs and among its most creative minds. This visit continues Lapo’s commitment to Sheba as the hospital’s Global Special Ambassador.
Professor Rotstein greeted Lapo with a bear hug and warm smile seeing his good friend. Once Lapo toured the Edmund and Lili Safra Children’s Hospital meeting patients, nurses and doctors he sat with Professor Rotstein to talk about Sheba. As a Hospital Without Boundaries Sheba distinguishes itself by caring for all who come to the hospital. “No child will ever be turned away because they are Palestinian, or do not have the means to pay,” said Prof Rotstein. “This commitment to a better life is vital to this region of the world,” Lapo said, adding his thoughts to Professor Rotstein’s.
Elkann, who has been to Sheba several times, joined with Stephan Bassett, Executive Director of American Friends of Sheba Medical Center to re-enforce his commitment toward the drive to build bridges of understanding in the Middle East. “Sheba’s commitment is a cherished gift, a show of love for people, especially children that I have made my personal mission to help this cause,” Elkann said to Professor Rotstein and American Friends, Bassett.
